After winning the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections 2021, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) Chief M.K. Stalin called on the State Governor Banwarilal Purohit and staked the claim to form the State Government.

On the 5th of May, M.K. Stalin called at the Raj Bhavan and met the State Governor regarding the formation of the State Government. The Party General Secretary Duraimurugan, the Party Treasurer T.R.Baalu, the Principal Secretary K.N. Nehru and the Organisation Secretary R.S. Bharathi accompanied M.K. Stalin to the Raj Bhavan. They submitted the letter signed by 133 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) who unanimously elected M.K. Stalin as the Party leader.

The DMK party took to its official Twitter handle and announced M.K. Stalin to be elected as Party leader. The tweet read, “Party president @mkstalin was elected leader of the DMK legislature party.”

According to sources, M.K. Stalin would take the oath as the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister on the 7th of May. The event would be a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in the wake of the outbreak of the Novel Coronavirus.
