Mr. Rakesh Tikait, the Union Leader of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), on the 18th of January, denied to support any political party in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
Addressing the media at Magh Mela, “chintan shivir” camp organised by the BKU, Mr. Rakesh Tikait said, “We will not support anyone in this election.” Notably, the three days camp has been organised to discuss the future action of the farmers Union, regarding the recent agitation of the farmers, regarding their demands related to the Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other demands.
Meanwhile, the statement of not extending support to political party came after the Bharatiya Kisan Union President Mr. Naresh Tikait asked to support Rashtriya Lok Dal and Samajwadi Party alliance in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, schedule from the 10th of February.
However, the BKU withdrew the statement hours later after a Union meeting, held on the 18th of January.
Reportedly, the Uttar Pradesh elections are scheduled to be held in 7 phases, for over 400 seats, starting from the 10th of February.
In addition, the results of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections would be announced on the 10th of March, 2022.
