Tarun Gogoi, the former Chief Minister of Assam, passed away from prolonged illness ag a private hospital.
Tarun Gogoi was battling post Novel Coronavirus complications and was in hospital.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the 23rd of November condoled the demise of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi and remembered the leader for his political experience in the state and Centre.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and said, “Shri Tarun Gogoi Ji was a popular leader and a veteran administrator, who had years of political experience in Assam as well as the Centre. Anguished by his passing away. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of sadness. Om Shanti. “
Mr. Gogoi, former chief minister of Assam, passed away on Monday after his health condition deteriorated. He was 84 years old.
Mr. Gogoi was admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital in Guwahati. He had tested positive for the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) on the 25th of August and had spent two months in hospital.
Besides PM Modi, President of India Ram Nath Kovind also expressed condolences to the family of Mr. Gogoi on his demise.
The last rites of Mr. Gogoi is likely to be held on the 24th of November.
