Thousands of farmers who are protesting against the three farm laws, decided to stage a giant protest on the 26th of June.  The massive sit in protest would be held at Raj Bhavans across India, amid the ongoing Wuhan virus pandemic.

The decision to conduct a massive sit in protest was taken to intensify their agitation against the Central Government’s three farm laws.

A Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader confirmed the news of the sit in protest and said, “There will be a protest of farmers on June 26 and black flags will be shown.  A memorandum will also be sent to President Ram Nath Kovind.”

Besides the SKM, the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU,)  would also participate in the protest.  A BKU leader Dharmendra Malik, addressed the media and said that they would participate in the protest, on the 26th of June, which would be celebrated as “Save Agriculture, Save Democracy Day.”

The farmers associations and protesting farmers assured safety of women at borders and said they would make arrangements for safety of women, medical facilities and others.

The associations and farmers said there would be a committee formed to ensure women’s safety at all the agitation sites in India.  According to the SKM, farmers are continuously protesting against BJP leaders at different places by showing black flags.

Thousands of farmers from Haryana, Punjab and other regions are staging protests against the three laws at three borders, the Singhu Border, the Tikri Border and the Ghaziabad border of New Delhi from the 25th of November 2020.  The farmers are protesting at these borders for nearly 200 days against the three farm laws.

The three farm laws which were proposed and passed by the Central Government in September 2020 witnessed criticism and protest from farmers.  According to the farmers the three laws: Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020, would take away Mandi System and Minimum Support Price (MSP) leaving them at the mercy of corporators.

Stay tuned for further updates.
