Goa Police Release Advisory For Blue Whale Game

The Blue Whale Game has sent shock waves in the country as two suicides in Kerala and Maharashtra have been credited to this deadly game. The Goa police have raised a concern and issued a formal advisory to parents about staying cautious about their children playing the game.

On Thursday, the Crime branch released the advisory that instructed parents to install parental control software on all the devices used by their children.

Superintendent of Police Karthik Kashyap also informed parents that the game targeted depressed and suicidal youngsters.

He was quoted as saying, “Recognise any change in your kid’s behavior that may point out depression or any other mental problem. Monitor your kid’s search history and get useful insights. They will help you see the state of mind of your kid. View your child’s: text messages, call logs, search history, communication via Facebook, Snapchat, WhatsApp, etc.”

The advisory cautioned, “Moreover, try to limit apps’ usage and block sites promoting dangerous activities.”

The advisory also read, “Talk to your kid about the game. Ask if they have heard about this at school. If you hear this game is being spread at your child’s school, ring alarm bells and raise awareness among teachers and parents.”

More than 100 youngsters around the world have succumbed to the game and ended up committing suicide.
