The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) an Indian rocket carrying the GSAT-6A will be launched on the 29th of March. A 27 hour countdown began today for the launch of the vehicle carrying the communication satellite GSAT-6A.

On Tuesday, the Mission Readiness Review committee and the Launch Authorisation Board cleared the 27 hour countdown according to the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO.)

The GSLV rocket weighs 415.6 tonnes and measures 49.1 meters tall. It is scheduled to blast off at 4:56 P.M., from Sriharikota on Thursday. The GSAT-6A satellite will enter the orbit 17 minutes after the rocket launch.

ISRO announced two new improvements made to the GSLV rocket. One being an induction of high thrust to the Vikas engine and second an electromechanical actuation system.

The GSAT-6A is quite similar to the GSAT-6 with a few changes. During the 2018-19 Union Budget, the Department of Space was given four Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle flights, three earth observation space crafts ready to launch, one Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MkII and one MkIII.
