In a shocking turn of political twist in Gujarat, the current Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Vijay Rupani submitted his resignation.
According to sources, on the 11th of September, Saturday, Mr. Gujar Vijay Rupani submitted his resignation to the Governor of Gujarat Mr. Acharya Devvrat at the State Raj Bhavan. Later, Mr. Vijay Rupani addressed the media and said, “During my tenure, I got the opportunity to work for the development of the state under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.”
However, Mr. Rupani did not answer about the reason behind his sudden resignation from the Chief Minister’s post. Instead, he dismissed the question saying, he served as the State Chief Minister for five years, which is quite a long time. He further said, “The people have repeatedly reposed their faith in the BJP during the past five years.”
Mr. Vijay Rupani became the Chief Minister of Guajarat in 2016 and have completed five years as the State Chief Minister.
With the resignation of Mr. Vijay Rupani, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Mr. Nitin Patel are in the race for the top post.
It is to be noted, the resignation of Mr. Vijay Rupani came 15 months ahead of the State Assembly elections. The Gujarat Assembly elections are due to be held in 2022.
Also, with Vijay Rupani, in the past one month, three BJP led state CMs resigned from their posts. Earlier, Mr. Tirath Singh Rawat, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand and Mr. B.S. Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka also resigned from their respective CMs post.
