The Indian National Congress (INC,) on the 11th of October, released the Haryana elections manifesto in the State.

In the manifesto, the INC promised welfare schemes, loan waivers, reservation for women and many other beneficiary schemes for the citizens of Haryana.

The INC named the manifesto ‘Sankalp Patra’ and said the major promise in the manifesto is to provide 33 % reservation to women in government jobs and admission to private institutions of Haryana.  It also includes free rides for women in Haryana’s roadways buses.

Apart from the 33 % reservation in the government sector, the INC promised 50 % reservation in Panchayati Raj institutions, municipal corporations and city councils for women.

According to Ghulam Nabi Azad, a senior leader of the INC, the Party’s main focus is to empower the women in the State, which is why the majority of the promises in the manifesto concern women.

Kumari Selja, the President of the INC in Haryana, addressed the public and promised loan waivers for farmers if the Party comes to power.

For the students of Haryana, the INC promised a scholarship of Rs. 12,000 to students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and extremely backward classes (BCs) from 1st to 10th standard and Rs. 15,000 for students of 11th and 12th standard.

Selija, who announced the Party manifesto, said the Party will also set up a scheduled caste commission for the people.

The Party manifesto event was attended by Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the former Chief Minister of Haryana, Kiran Choudhary, the chief of the INC manifesto committee, Pawan Kumar Bansal, the former Railway Minister and other INC leaders.

The Haryana Assembly elections for 90 seats are scheduled to be held on the 21st of October.  The results of the Haryana Assembly elections will be announced on the 24th of October.

The major parties contesting the Assembly elections in Haryana are the INC and the BJP.
