After the Hathras gang rape incident, a similar incident came to light on the night of the 30th of September.

According to sources, a 22 year old Dalit woman was allegedly raped by two men in Balrampur village, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on the 29th of September and she died during the treatment on the night of the 30th of September. The victim was cremated on yesterday night itself after post mortem by a panel of four doctors.

According to the Superintendent of Balrampur Police, on the 29th of September, the girl went to a college of Balrampur for admission, but did not return till late evening.

Later in the day, she reached home in an injured state. She returned on a rickshaw with glucose drip inserted in her hand. It is said, the accused took her to hospital after raping her and when her condition started deteriorating, sent her home in a rickshaw.

SP Dev Ranjan Verma said, “We have received a complaint at the Gaisri police station. The woman’s family members said she worked at a private firm. On Tuesday, she did not return till late night. When they tried to contact her on phone, they could not reach her. Later in the night, the girl came home on a rickshaw in a bad condition, with glucose drips attached to her arms. She was rushed to a hospital, but died on the way.”

However, as per police report, there was no mention of any such injuries in her postmortem report.

Victim’s brother filed police complaint against the accused, who were arrested under the sections 376-D for gang rape and 302 for murder of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

The Balrampur Police SP said the case would be sent to a fast track court and strictest action would be taken against the accused.

Social media platforms like Twitter, Instagram and Facebook soon flooded with tweets and posts.

Netizens criticised the Uttar Pradesh Government and demanded strict action against the accused.

Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party (SP,) took to Twitter and said, “Avoid the negligence they showed in the Hathras case.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadhra, a member of the Indian National Congress (INC,) took to Twitter and said, “हाथरस जैसी वीभत्स घटना बलरामपुर में घटी। लड़की का बलात्कार कर पैर और कमर तोड़ दी गई। आजमगढ़, बागपत, बुलंदशहर में बच्चियों से दरिंदगी हुई।

यूपी में फैले जंगलराज की हद नहीं। मार्केटिंग, भाषणों से कानून व्यवस्था नहीं चलती। ये मुख्यमंत्री की जवाबदेही का वक्त है। जनता को जवाब चाहिए।”

The investigation is underway.
