Hima Das Becomes DSP Of Assam, Netizens Shower Wishes

Twenty one year old athlete Hima Das is now the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Assam.

On the 26th of February, Ms. Das was officially inducted into the Assam Police and would be posted in Guwahati.

This was a proud moment for Hima Das who got fame due to her athletic career.  Since childhood Hima Das wished to be a police officer.

The Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal honoured Ms. Das with a badge and welcomed the new DSP of Assam.  He gave her the appointment letter during the event organised in Guwahati. 

Ms. Das said, “I feel honoured to be a part of Assam Police.  I thank Union Minister Kiren Rijiju for showering his support on me.”

When asked if she would continue her athletic career, Ms. Das said, “I got everything due to sports, I will try to work for betterment of sports in the state and try to make Assam one of the best performing states in the country, like Haryana.”  

Assam Police took to their official Twitter handle and posted a tweet, “Welcome Aboard!  Heartiest Congratulations to @HimaDas8 and all 597 newly selected Sub Inspectors of Assam Police.  Together, we’ll write a new saga of people friendly policing in the State, to serve the citizens of Assam.”

Hima Das is silver medalist in Asian Games and junior world champion. 

The 21 year old is currently preparing for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics qualification at Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports, Patiala.
