In a tragic incident, more than a dozen people including school children died after a bus fell into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu. The incident happened on the 4th of July, Monday, at 8:30 A.M. As of now, the number of deceased people is said to be 16, including school children, which could rise further.
According to sources, over forty people, with school children were on the bus, en route to Sainj. OPerated by a private travel agency, the bus fell into a gorge near Jangla Village, in Kullu.
After the accident, a rescue team and police rushed to the spot and started operations. The injured people were taken out of the bus and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Furthermore, upon hearing the unfortunate incident, Mr. Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister o India, took to Twitter and said, “The bus accident in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh, is heart-rending. In this tragic hour my thoughts are with the bereaved families. I hope that injured recover at the earliest. The local administration is providing all possible assistance to those affected.”
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Mr. Jairam Thakur tweeted, “The entire administration is on the spot, the injured are being taken to the hospital. May god grant peace to those who have died and give strength to affected families. I pray that the accident sees minimum casualties.”
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of India Mr. Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to the families who lost their kin in the accident. Moreover, the injured people would be receiving Rs. 50,000 from the Prime Minister’s National Reserve Fund. In addition, the State Chief Minister Mr. Jairam Thakur said that Rs. 5 lakh would be provided to the families of each person killed in the accident. The injured would get immediate assistance of Rs. 15,000 and they would be treated for free.
The Himachal Pradesh Government also ordered a probe under the supervision of a court magistrate, to find the cause of the accident.
