Basvakalyan Narayan Rao, the  Member Of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of the Indian National Congress (INC) passed away on the 24th of September.

Mr. Narayan was diagnosed positive for the  Novel Coronavirus or COVID- 19 and died at hospital during his treatment.

Mr.  Rao, 66 years old was admitted to Manipal hospital in Bengaluru on the 1st of September, after he tested COVID-19 positive. 

Initially he was said to be in a stable condition and later his condition started deteriorating.

The hospital issued a statement which read, “The MLA was critically ill with multi-organ failure and was in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) on multiple supports including ventilator.”

Dr. Manish Rai, the Director of Manipal Hospital, said, “We deeply regret the loss and express our condolences to his family and friends.”

Narayan Rao passed away at 3:55 P.M., and his last rites are scheduled to be held on the evening of the 24th of September.
