On Friday, the Indian Cricket Team successfully beat South Africa in the sixth and final ODI match. After the phenomenal show put up by the team, Captain Virat Kohli credited his wife Anushka Sharma for pushing him in the right direction.
Kohli managed to score his 35th ODI century helping his team get at 5-1 series victory. Virat Kohli said, “People who contribute off the field they deserve a lot of credit as well. My wife, who keeps me motivated deserves, a lot of credit. She has been criticised a lot but she kept pushing me.”
South Africa batted first and gave India 205 to chase. India stormed through and won the match by the 33rd over with eight wickets to spare. Kohli was the star of the show as he remained unbeaten throughout the match with 129 runs from 96 balls.
During the series India rose to the number one spot in the ICC One Day International (ODI) Team Rankings. India started the six match series in the second spot with 119 points. South Africa stood in the number one spot with just a two point lead. After India managed to get a 4-1 lead in the 6 day ODI series their points increased to 122. This dropped South Africa to the second spot with 118 points.
