On the 26th of July, India celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas. On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to all those who lost their lives in Kargil protecting our nation.
Mr. Narendra Modi took to his Twitter handle and said, “We remember their sacrifices. We remember their valour.” He also said, “Today, on Kargil Vijay Diwas we pay homage to all those who lost their lives in Kargil protecting our nation. Their bravery motivates us every single day. Also sharing an excerpt from last year’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’.”
Twitter is flooded with messages commemorating 22 years of Kargil War, which took place in 1999 in Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir. On the 26th of July 2021, India celebrates the 22nd anniversary of the 1999 Kargil War and India’s victory against Pakistan. The Kargil War is called ‘Operation Vijay’ (Operation Success) by India.
Indian leaders, political parties and celebrities took to Twitter and paid tribute to the soldiers who fought bravely against Pakistan during the War.
Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India, said, “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, I remember all the brave fighters of this war. Due to your indomitable courage, valour and sacrifice, the tricolour was again proudly hoisted on the inaccessible hills of Kargil. A grateful nation salutes your dedication to keeping the integrity of the country intact. Happy Kargil Vijay Diwas.”
Rajnath Singh, the Defense Minister of India, and chiefs of the armed forces in India marked the day and paid tribute at the War Memorial in Srinagar.
