On the 25th of May, India crossed 1.38 lakh cases of the Novel Coronavirus and became the 10th Nation with the highest number of the Novel Coronavirus cases.
In the last 24 hours, India witnessed a spike of 6,977cases taking the total cases to 1,38,845 cases of theCOVID-19 infections.
This every day spike in cases is said to be a matter of concern for India regarding the Pandemic crisis, COVID-19, especially when the Indian Government is set to resume train services and aviation services.
While the aviation services started from the 25th of May, train services are scheduled to begin with 200 trains from the 1st of June.
The new cases of the Novel Coronavirus were confirmed by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 25th of May
While the cases crossed 1.38 lakhs, death cases also increased to 4,021 till the 25th of May.
Besides, considering the safety of the healthcare staff due to the increased cases, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issued a revised advisory for the use of Hydroxychloroquine as a preventive medication for asymptomatic healthcare staff working in non-COVID-19 hospitals, frontline staff on surveillance duty in containment zones and paramilitary/police personnel involved in coronavirus infection related activities.
To curb the spread of the virus, India implemented a nationwide lockdown since the 24th of March, which was revised thrice. On the 18th of May, India entered the 4th phase of the nation wide lockdown. The 4th lockdown is proposed to end on the 31st of May.
Meanwhile speaking of the cure or vaccine of the disease, Harsh Vardhan, the Health Minister of India, said, “There are more than 100 candidates for developing a vaccine that are working at different levels.”
