India Reports Highest Single Day Spike Of 75,760 Cases, Total Crosses 3.3 Million

On the 27th of August, India registered the highest single day spike of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection.

In the last 24 hours, as many as 75,760 people tested positive of the Novel Coronavirus. In addition, 1,023 people died due to the COVID-19 infection.

The number of COVID-19 cases were updated by the Union Health Ministry on the morning of the 27th of August.

The data with the new updates are available on the official website of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) https://www.mohfw.gov.in/

According to the MoHFW, India has 3,310,235 positive cases, of which 7,25,991 are active cases, 25,23,771 are recovered/discharged cases and 60,472 deceased.

Despite the everyday spike in the Novel Coronavirus cases, the recovery rate in India is nearly 76 % and active cases growth is nearly 21.87 %.

Meanwhile, speaking about the Novel Coronavirus vaccine, Rahul Gandhi, the former President of the Indian National Congress (INC) took to Twitter and said, “A fair and inclusive Covid vaccine access strategy should have been in place by now. But there are still no signs of it.

GOI’s unpreparedness is alarming.”

The trials of the U.S. candidate vaccine started in India and entered the second phase. In addition, COVID-19 candidate vaccine has been made by Indian pharma companies are also on the third stage of trials.

On the other hand, the Indian Council Medical Research (ICMR) also confirmed 9,24,998 tests conducted in the past 24 hours, taking the total test till date to 3,85,76,510.
