The Indian Army, on the 20th of October, launched attacks on terror camps operating from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK,) across the Line of Control (LoC.)

During the attacks, the Indian Army said they destroyed 3 terror camps situated in the PoK and 6 to 10 soldiers of the Pakistan Army were killed.

General Bipin Rawat, the Chief of the Indian Army, confirmed the news and said the terror camps in Neelam Valley, opposite the Tangdhar sector of Kupwara, were destroyed in the artillery strikes.  General Bipin Rawat said, “Based on the reports that we are getting, 6 to 10 Pakistani soldiers have been killed, three terrorist camps have been destroyed. A similar number of terrorists have also been killed.”  Speaking about the reason to launch the attacks, General Bipin Rawat said the Pakistan Army was supporting the terror camps to enter into Indian territory, due to which, the Indian Army decided to destroy the camps.

General Rawat said, “Before they could attempt the infiltration…It was decided that we target their terror camps. We had the coordinates for these camps… In the retaliatory action, we have caused severe damage to terrorist infrastructure. Terrorist camps opposite the Tangdhar sector have been destroyed.”

On the evening of the 19th of October, terrorists were making attempts to enter India, following which, the Indian Army retaliated and attacked them.  General Rawat said, “We have picked up definite information that some of the terror camps north of Pirpanjal are active. The terrorists have arrived in these camps… in that they are likely to infiltrate.”  He further said as Pakistan’s troops opened fire, the Indian Army retaliated.

In the cease fire, two Indian Army soldiers and a civilian lost their lives and three people were injured.

The Indian Army also said this attack is not equal to the surgical strikes in the past, as it was a step lower in the escalation matrix.  The attack is said to be a strong message to the Pakistan Army for supporting terror camps to enter India.

The Indian Army has been receiving intelligence inputs stating terrorists are trying to enter India to disrupt the peace in the Country.  According to sources, the reports of terrorists entering India came after the Government of India (GoI) abrogated Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Stay tuned for further updates.
