On the 31st of August, the Union Government extended a ban on international flights in India. 

The Civil Aviation Ministry of India said all international flights coming to India and from India would be suspended until the 30th of September.

The Civil Aviation Ministry issued a signed circular regarding the same on Monday, the 31st of August.

Besides international flights, the Government of India also extended a ban on all visa related services.

However, domestic flights, cargo and special flights like Vande Bharat would be working as earlier with 45 % working staff.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued a set of guidelines for Unlock 4.0., in India on the 29th of August.

Regarding travel, the MHA notice read, “Movement by passenger trains, domestic passenger air travel, a movement of a person on Vande Bharat and Air Transport Bubble flights and sign-on and sign-off of Indian seafarers will continue to be regulated as per the SOPs issued,” said the MHA statement on passenger movement for Unlock 4.0.”

The fourth phase of Unlock in India would begin from the 1st of September 2020.

After three lockdowns, from the 1st of June, Indian Government started the Unlock phases.

The 4th one would begin from the 1st of September and would continue till the 30th of September.

Speaking about international flights, only Vande Bharat Mission flights and Transport Bubble are permitted.

India signed ‘Transport Bubble’ agreements with the United States of America (U.S.A.,) France and Germany in July month.

Transport Bubble flights would allow movement of passenger traffic during the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic.

Only Air France and United Airlines are allowed to operate a limited number of international flights under the ‘air bubble’ arrangements with India.

Besides France and the U.S.A., Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) also signed the same contract.

The Air Bubble arrangement is basically to help in evacuation of stranded passengers in the aforementioned countries.
