On Friday, the Indian Navy patrol vessel INS Trishul, defeated a crew of pirates who took control of an Indian cargo ship MV Jag Amar in the Gulf of Aden.
A Navy spokesperson announced in Delhi that the 26 member crew were safe and the marine commandos MARCOS boarded the carrier after a five hour long operation.
On Friday, officials received a distress call from the cargo ship at 12:30 P.M., and then carried out the rescue operation.
The commandos seized one AK 47 assault rifle, ropes, fuel drums, grapnels and ladders.
In the past six months, this is the third piracy attempt that was eventually foiled by the Indian Navy in the Gulf of Aden.
