Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on the 29th of July, celebrated as the International Tiger Day, released the All India Tiger Estimation (AITE) Report 2018.
According to the AITE Report 2018, India is one of the safest habitats for tigers across the world. As of today, India has approximately 3,000 tigers in several parts of India.
According to the AITE Report of 2014, India had a total of 2,226 tigers, but in 2018, India had a total of 2,967 tigers, which is a great increase in number.
Speaking about the development and environment, Mr. Modi said the Government of India (GoI) will try to maintain a balance between the development of India and the preservation of animals’ habitats. He said, “India will build more homes for our citizens and at the same time create quality habitats for animals. India will have a vibrant marine economy and healthier marine ecology. This balance is what will contribute to a strong and inclusive India.”
Mr. Modi expressed his happiness and said, “The results of the just declared tiger census would make every Indian, every nature lover happy.” He further mentioned Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s movies as references and said, “The story which started from Ek Tha Tiger and reached to Tiger Zinda Hai, shouldn’t end there.”
The International Tiger Day is celebrated worldwide with an agenda to create awareness regarding tiger conservation in all the countries.
