Dilbagh Singh, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, on the 6th of October addressed a press conference and spoke about active militants in Jammu and Kashmir.

DGP Singh said, “There are 200 to 300 terrorists presently active, but the number keeps fluctuating.”

Confirming the information  about the presence of militants, Mr. Singh said, “Many ceasefire violations are taking place in Uri, Rajouri, Poonch and several other areas of Jammu and Kashmir. During ceasefire violations, Pakistan attempts to push in a greater number of infiltrators. Our anti infiltration grid on the border areas are very strong, which have foiled many of such attempts.”

When asked about the present situation of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Singh said there is peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Kargil and Leh. No reports of violence have been reported since the GoI announced a curfew in the State.

Jammu and Kashmir are under curfew since the Government of India (GoI) scrapped Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir on the 5th of August. Amit Shah, the Home Minister of India announced the revocation of Article 370, which provided special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

The situation is said to be under control and soon normalcy would also be seen in Jammu and Kashmir.
