On the 17th of August, communication services were restored partially in a few parts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Based on the orders of the Government of India (GoI,) approximately 50,000 telephone connections and internet services were restored in Kashmir Valley and a few parts of Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir.

The areas where telephone services are back are Budgam, Sonamarg, Manigam (Central Kashmir,) Gurez, Tangmarg, Uri Keran Karnah and Tangdhar (North Kashmir.)

In Srinagar, landlines are now working in the Civil Lines area, Cantonment area and the area near the airport.  Besides, 17 out of the 100 telephone exchanges in Kashmir became operational again.

Apart from telephone connections, mobile and internet services were activated in Jammu, Reasi, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur districts.

B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, the Chief Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir, said the administration departments started functioning completely.

The remaining offices, schools and institutions will reopen on the 19th of August.
