Jammu And Kashmir: In Two Separate Encounters One Official And Three Militants Were Killed

On the 19th of February, three militants were shot down in an encounter.

The Jammu and Kashmir police killed three unidentified terrorists during an encounter in Shopian district, South Kashmir.

The Shopian encounter started between terrorists and security forces in Baddigam on the night of the 18th of February and is still underway.

The terrorists opened fire at police officials after they launched a search operation. On the basis of a special intelligence information that terrorists are hiding in Shopian, the Police launched a search operation and cordoned off the area.

The open fire by militants resulted in a returning of fire by the police, leading to the death of three yet to be identified militants.

After hours of gun battle, the fight stopped and the security officials condoned off the area.

So far, arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter spot.

The Jammu and Kashmir Police in a statement said, “Three unidentified terrorists have been killed in the Shopian encounter. Incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition recovered. Search is going on.”

Besides an encounter in Shopian, a gunfight between terrorists and the police forces is underway in the Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir.

During the encounter a Special Police Officer (SPO) Mohammad Altaf lost his life and Manzoor Ahmad another Police official present during the encounter was injured.

The injured Manzoor Ahmad is undergoing treatment at a hospital and is likely to recover soon.
