Kamal Nath took oath as the Chief Minister (CM) of Madhya Pradesh, today afternoon, around 1:30 P.M., at Jamboree Maidan, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
Kamal Nath administered the oath as the CM in the presence of the topmost Congress leaders and Anandiben Patel, the Governor of Madhya Pradesh. Leaders such as Manmohan Singh, Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, Sharad Yadav, Prafull Patel, Digvijay Singh, H.D. Kumaraswamy, Farooq Abdullah and H.D. Devegowda were present at the oath taking ceremony.
Among all the dignitaries, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) member and the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, was also seen at the ceremony. However, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader and Congress supporter, Mayawati Das, was not present at the ceremony. Other leaders such as Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal and Akhilesh Yadav, the President of the Samajwadi Party, were also absent at both the oath taking ceremonies. Mamata Banerjee sent a representative to attend the ceremonies on her behalf.
The Congress party marked their victory against the opposition BJP in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The grand oath taking ceremony in the 3 winning states showcases the unity between the Congress party and the other parties.
Earlier in the morning, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot took oath as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan respectively, in Rajasthan.
After the oath taking ceremony in Madhya Pradesh, the same set of leaders will fly to Chhattisgarh for the swearing in ceremony of Bhupesh Baghel, the elected Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, today, at 5:00 P.M.
