Alka Lamba, a Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA,) of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP,) on the 19th of February, said the AAP leadership is weakening and undermining her role in the Party.
Alka Lamba is the representative of the Chandni Chowk constituency.
Ms. Lamba said, “How will the Party gain by weakening me?” She also alleged the AAP of trying to accuse her for attempting to switch to the Indian National Congress (INC) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Ms. Lamba rubbished the accusation of her shifting to the INC and said, it’s not her but someone else who is trying to switch and is willing to do anything for the same.
Lamba said, “Someone else in the Party is ready to ‘go to any level’ for alliance with that party (sic.)” However, she did not reveal the name of the AAP member to whom she was referring.
Moving further with her allegations, Ms. Lamba claimed Arvind Kejriwal, the President of the AAP, sidelined her and is hiding information about the Party from her.
To prove her point, Ms. Lamba said, Mr. Kejriwal scheduled a Party meeting, on the 20th of February, at the Jama Masjid, Delhi, regarding which she was not informed.
Alka Lamba also alleged the AAP members of asking her to resign from the Party in December 2018. She further added, since then, the Party members are trying to prevent her from being a part of any major decisions and meetings.
This is not the first time Ms. Lamba felt like an outsider in the Party and expressed herself. Recently, Ms. Lamba made a statement, wherein she said, Arvind Kejriwal unfollowed her on Twitter. This statement gained a lot of attention amongst the politicians and the media.
However, the AAP members rubbished all the accusations and said, it is Mr. Kejriwal’s personal choice as to whom he wants to follow or unfollow.
The AAP will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, scheduled between April and May 2019, in Delhi, Haryana, Goa and Punjab.
