The 4th lockdown started from the 18th of May, with a fresh set of guidelines issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA.)
On the evening of the 17th of May, the MHA announced the lockdown 4.0, till the 31st of May with new rules for the Indian States. The nation wide lockdown is different from the previous 3 lockdowns, as it allows functioning of offices, inter and intra state movement of passenger vehicles, opening of market places, cab services and E commerce (online services.)
Prohibited things till the 31st May are metro, rail, air services, cinema halls, shopping malls, gyms, swimming pools, schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants and public gathering places. Large gatherings including religious, cultural, sports, political, will not be permitted. All religious places/places of worship will remain closed to the public. Religious congregations are strictly prohibited. People over 65 years of age, people with comorbidity, pregnant women and children below 10 years are asked to stay at home, except for essential and health purposes. However, the curfew between 7:00 P.M., and 7:00 A.M., would be imposed in all the zones till the 31st of May.
The Central Government issued a notification regarding the implementation of the lockdown 4.0, on the evening of the 17th of May. The lockdown was extended in the wake of the pandemic crisis due to the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
This time, the Central Government asked the state government/ union territories to decide upon the Green, Orange, Red and Containment Zones in their respective states. The fresh guidelines issued by the Central Government would be applicable only in Green, Orange and Red Zones. The Containment Zones would be under strict guidelines with only essential and limited movement.
The 4th lockdown is proposed to end on the 31st of May.
