Uri: The Surgical Strike will again be released in cinemas on the 26th of July, in Maharashtra.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film is based on a surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army in 2016, after a terrorist attack in Uri.

On the 18th of September 2016, approximately 17 Army personnel died in a terrorist attack, which took place at an Indian Army base camp in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir.  As a response to this, the Indian Army carried out a surgical strike against the terrorists.

Uri: The Surgical Strike will be released on the 26th of July, which is commemorated as Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Devendra Fadanavis, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, announced the movie will be re released in almost 500 locations across Maharashtra.  Mr. Fadnavis, to pay tribute to the soldiers of the Indian Army who died during the Kargil War in 1999, decided to re release the film.

Aditya Dhar addressed the media and said, “I am deeply honoured that ‘Uri…’ is becoming a part of the Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations on 26th July. It’s a wonderful initiative by our honourable Chief Minister Devendra Fadanavis sir to showcase the film in 500 locations across Maharashtra.”  He further added, “I truly hope ‘Uri…’ keeps motivating every Indian for generations to join hands in serving our nation to the best of their ability.”

Aditya said, ever since the news came out, Team Uri: The Surgical Strike received many calls, messages and emails with wishes from Indian youths, saying the film inspired them to join the Indian armed forces.

Aditya said, “It’s truly the greatest validation for any filmmaker to know that somewhere their work has got the youth of India to think about the bravery, valour and sacrifice of our brave soldiers and instil these very emotions in them.”

The 26th of July is the 20th anniversary of the Kargil War, which took place in Kargil, Jammu and Kashmir on the 26th of July 1999.

To celebrate India’s victory in the Kargil War, Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, lit a “Victory Flame,” which will reach the Kargil War Memorial in Drass, Kargil, travelling from the National War Memorial (NWM,) Delhi.

The Victory Flame will reach Drass on the 26th of July, after crossing approximately nine towns and cities.

The Army Chief will receive the Victory Flame in Drass.
