Meghalaya is the only Indian State with zero cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 till date, the 11th of April.

While other Indian States are dealing with the pandemic illness, the Meghalaya Government is all geared up to maintain zero Coronavirus cases in the State.

Conard K. Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, said the State Government set up isolation wards and medical facilities to tackle the situation and followed the lockdown strictly.

Mr. Sangma said, “A health alert has been sounded in the state especially after fresh cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the neighbouring state of Assam.”

Assam, on the 10th of April, reported 4 new cases of Novel Coronavirus.  With the 4 new cases, Assam reported a total of 29 cases of COVID-19 infection.

Meghalaya also sealed its border with Assam and restricted any inter state movement.

According to sources, 7 citizens of Meghalaya took part in the Tablighi Jamaat Congregation, held at Markaz Mosque in Nizamuddin, Delhi.   However, due to the Nationwide lockdown and restriction on inter state travel, they were unable to return and had to stay in Delhi and Lucknow.
