Every day we come across inspirational stories in all walks of life. One such story is of 19 year old Tushar Rishi, who while battling cancer, scored 95% in board exams! These stories teach us not the value of marks, but the value of determination to achieve, which leads to success.
Setting an inspiration, the 2016 Miss India Runner Up, Pankhuri Gidwani, appeared for ICSE 12th Board this year and achieved 97.25%. The beauty with brains not only became the runner up but also won millions of heart with her determination to achieve.
In 2016, Pankhuri had to miss her 12th Board exams at the age of 18 so that she could participate in the contest. In 2017, she appeared for exams from La Martiniere Girls College, Lucknow. She scored a whopping 97.25% in the exams. In a Facebook post, she shared,
“97.25 it is! So there is something I would like all my friends and followers to know!
I had missed my board examinations for participating in Miss India (at 18) and after winning Miss India 2nd Runners Up. I had to train for Miss Grand International and received the 25th position out of 80 countries.
After coming back from the pageant, I battled a number of hard situations, one of them were getting adjusted to studying again after a year of glamor I put my all into it, and this is the result I came forth with.
So all the people out there who think that something they want is impossible to accomplish, whether it is academics, your dreams or the love you want, you can achieve it all, just have the grit, determination and a true heart to pursue it all.”
The proud parents of Pankhuri shared their elation with a news daily. Deepak Gidwani, Pankhuri’s father speaking said that it has been a thrilling journey for their daughter. He also said that it was her decision to strike a balance between her modeling career and also her academics. He shared, “Pankhuri has scored 99 in History and wants to study Performing Arts or pursue Bachelors in Mass Media from Mumbai.”
Well, Pankhuri, like Tushar, set an example that determination helps in achieving the heights one dreams of. She, with her scores, set an example to follow instead of preaching!
