Modi Questions Sibal For Plea To Postpone Ayodhya Case Hearing

The Prime Minister of India attacked the Congress Minister Kapil Sibal. PM Modi lashed out at the leader after Kapil filed a plea to postpone the hearing of the Ayodhya case after the 2019 Parliamentary Elections. Modi questioned Sibal what the relation was between the elections and the Babri Masjid dispute.

Modi questioned, “Why does he have to link Ram Mandir with elections. Is this thinking proper?” At an election rally in Dhandhuka in Gujarat Modi said, “Now the Congress links the Ram Mandir with elections. They are least bothered about the nation.”

Kapil Sibal is also a lawyer and is representing the Sunni Waqf Board in the Supreme Court for the Babri Masjid dispute case. Sibal made the request to postpone the hearing as the BJP has said, “the Ram temple will be built before 2019 through legal means… They want to make it part of their election manifesto and the court should not fall into the trap.”

The plea was rejected and the Supreme Court said it would conduct the final hearing on the 8th of February 2018.

On the other hand, the Congress has completely disassociated from Kapil’s comments. They have stated Kapil representing the Sunni Waqf Board is his personal matter and the Congress has nothing to do with it.
