Donald Trump, the President of the United States of America (U.S.A.,) and Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, will address a mega event named ‘Howdy, Modi!’ in Houston, Texas.

This is the first time PM Modi will address a joint rally with the U.S.A., President.  The event is scheduled to be held on the 22nd of September at the Sprawling NRG Stadium in Houston.

On the 15th of September, the White House issued a notice and confirmed the presence of Trump at the rally, for which approximately 50,000 people registered themselves.

Stephanie Grisham, the Press Secretary of the White House, said, “It (Modi Trump joint rally) will be a great opportunity to emphasize the strong ties between the people of the United States and India, to reaffirm the strategic partnership between the world’s oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen their energy and trade relationship.”

‘Howdy, Modi’ means ‘How do you do, Modi?’ and is organised in honour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the people residing in Texas.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, the Indian ambassador to the U.S.A., addressed the media and declared the event would be historic as Trump and Modi will address a joint rally, where both Indians and Americans will be there.  He said, “It is reflective of the strong bonds of friendship and cooperation that has developed between India and the U.S.A.” Shringla further added, “This is unprecedented and historic and is reflective of the close ties of friendship and cooperation between India and the U.S.A.”

After the Group of 20 (G20) Summit in Japan and the G7 Summit in France, ‘Howdy, Modi’ is the third meeting this year between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Donald Trump.

Mr. Modi is expected to reach Houston on the 21st of September, a day ahead of the Howdy, Modi event.

The event will start at 11:00 A.M., at the Sprawling NRG stadium.  Apart from this event, Mr. Modi will also attend an ‘energy roundtable,’ with business leaders from the energy sector in the U.S.A.

Mr. Modi is also scheduled to attend the UNSG Climate Action Summit, hosted by Antonio Guterres, the Secretary General of the United Nations, on the 23rd of September.

On the 24th of September, Mr. Modi will host a special event on the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in New York and will speak about ‘Leadership Matters: Relevance of Gandhi in the Contemporary World.’  The event will be held at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Chamber of the United Nations’ headquarters in New York.

Mr. Modi will also attend an event on the 24th of September, organised by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.  During the event, Modi will be awarded the 2019 Global Goalkeeper Award for his Swachh Bharat Abhiyan campaign in India.

Mr. Modi will also attend a United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) event, where he will specifically speak about the Jammu and Kashmir issue.

Mr. Modi is expected to return to India on the 28th of September.
