Reviewing the major fire mishap at a residential building, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced an ex-gratia worth Rs 5 lakh. The amount was announced to the families of seven victims, who lost lives. Notably, 23 people injured and seven died in the fire incident, which happened on the 22nd of January, at 7:30 am, at Kamala Building near Bhatia Hospital, Mumbai. The authority took the matter and launched an investigation.

According to sources, in Mumbai, a major fire broke out at a 20 storeyed building on the morning of the 22nd of January, Saturday.

The incident which occured at the residential Kamala Building, killed seven people and left 15 injured.  According to the sources, of the injured, four are said to be critical and are undergoing treatment at a Mumbai hospital. 

Of the seven dead people, two were identified as Hitesh Mistry and Manjuben Kantharia.  The other victims who are in a critical situation are Hansa Choksi, Dilip Sarkar, Mamta Salkar and Shubhangi Salkar.  All the aforementioned critically injured people are admitted to Bhatia Hospital. 

At least 21 fire tenders rushed to the spot and controlled the fire.  Although the reason for the fire is uncertain, a short circuit is suspected. 

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) the fire broke out at the 15th floor, which decked up to the 19th floor.

Mr. Devendra Fadnavis, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra also expressed his condolences and said, “My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in major fire at Tardeo, Mumbai.

Praying for speedy recovery of the injured residents.  Shocked & anguished to know nearby hospitals refused admissions to injured, which resulted into more deaths.

Meanwhile, a rescue operation at the building is underway.
