On the 12th of October, all the trains on Western Railway and the Central Railway service were suspended due to a power outage.
However, after 2.5 hours of power failure, it was restored in suburb areas like Thane and Mulund.
According to sources, due to a power failure in many parts of Mumbai, Maharashtra, a large number of local trains were suspended and or halted.
The local train services between Mumbai’s Churchgate to Vasai railway station were affected during the peak hours on the morning of the 12th of October.
The Central Railway took to their Twitter handle and said, “#PowerOutage Mumbai Suburban trains on CR held up due to grid failure. We will update ASAP. Kindly bear with us.”
In addition, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) said the electric supply in Mumbai has been interrupted due to TATA’s incoming electric supply failure. The BEST took to Twitter handle and said, “टाटा कडु्न येणाऱ्या विद्युत पुरवठ्यात बिघाड झाल्यामुळे विद्युत पुरवठा खंडित झाला आहे.
गैरसोयीबद्दल दिलगिरी व्यक्त केली जाते.”
Juhu, Andheri, Mira Road, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Panvel are among the largely affected areas.
On the other hand, Nitin Raut, the Energy Minister of Maharashtra, asked for an investigation regarding the sudden power failure.
In addition, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued helpline numbers 022-22694727, 022-226947725 and 022-22704403 in case residents face any emergency.
