The Supreme Court has passed a ruling that the National Anthem should be mandatory before every movie in theaters, and all must rise for the anthem.
The apex court, on Wednesday, said the Anthem must be accompanied by an image of the tricolor on the silver screen. The Court also ruled that the National Anthem should not be printed in ‘undesirable places’ starting from now.
It will also be mandatory for every able bodied member of the audience to stand up and pay their respects to the anthem, the apex court added. The Centre and States are given 10 days to implement the court’s order in all the cinema halls. The Supreme Court also said it will circulate the order to all States’ Chief Secretaries and will also publish it in the electronic and print media platforms. They also added that the National Anthem will no longer be allowed to play on entertainment TV shows and must not be exploited commercially. Also, there should be no dramatization while playing the National Anthem.
