The National Investigation Agency (NIA,) on the 19th of September, arrested nine All Qaeda terrorists. 

According to the sources, they were arrested after multiple NIA raids in West Bengal and Kerala.

The arrested terrorists are identified as Murshid Hasan, Iyakub Biswas, Mosaraf Hossen, Najmus Sakib, Abu Sufiyan, Mainul Mondal, Leu Yean Ahmed, Al Mamun Kamal and Atitur Rehman.

Officials of the NIA, on the 19th of September, spoke about the arrest and said, during the multiple raids at Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Ernakulam (Kerala) nine members of the terrorist group were nabbed.

An official of the NIA said, “(The) NIA had learnt about an inter-state module of Al-Qaeda operatives at various locations in India including West-Bengal and Kerala. The group was planning to undertake terrorist attacks at vital installations in India with an aim to kill innocent people and strike terror.”

All the nine terrorists are linked to a terror plot. Of the total nine terrorists, six were from West Bengal and three from Kerala.

According to the NIA officials, the terrorists were planning single wolf attacks and human bombs in Delhi National Capital Region.

The NIA officials said, “Large quantity of incriminating materials including digital devices, documents, jihadi literature, sharp weapons, country made firearms, a locally fabricated body armour, articles and literature used for making home made explosive devices have been seized from their possession.” The official further added, “These individuals were radicalised by Pakistan-based Al-Qaeda terrorists on social media and were motivated to undertake attacks at multiple places,” including Delhi-NCR.”

The officials are conducting an investigation and more arrests are likely to happen. Meanwhile, the arrested terrorists would be presented at a West Bengal and Kerala Court respectively, seeking their custody.
