A Delhi court, on the 17th of February, issued fresh death warrants against the convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape case.
After cancelling the death execution on the 31st January and the 1st of February, this is the third time the death warrants were issued by the Patiala Court of Delhi.
Nirbhaya’s mother pleaded to the Delhi Government to execute the convicts who brutally raped her daughter in a moving bus on the 16th of December, 2012.
The four convicts were proven guilty of raping the young girl, who was named Nirbhaya by the Government to protect her identity.
As per the death warrants issued by the Delhi Court, all the four convicts shall be hanged to death on the 3rd of March, 2020, at 6:00 A.M.
However, due to the legal rights of the convicts, it is expected the execution of the death sentence is once again going to be postponed as Pawan Gupta, the fourth convict, is yet to file a mercy petition and a curative petition.
It remains to be seen whether the 4 convicts in the Nirbhaya case would be hanged to death on the 3rd of March.
