Nitish Kumar Break Silence Over Bihar Girls Shelter Case

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar finally broke his silence about the recent horrifying Bihar girls shelter rape case.Over 30 girls from a Government run shelter were continuously raped and torchered.

CM Kumar described the incident as shameful and promised strict and uncompromising action against the accused.

At the launch of a Government welfare scheme for girls in Bihar the CM said, “What has happened has shamed us. It is a sin. Such cases should not happen again and there should be an institutional mechanism. Those responsible for this should be taught a lesson.”

He further added, “We have always said the guilty will not be spared, and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has said on the floor of the assembly that we would like the CBI probe to be monitored by the High Court.”

Mr. Kumar was attacked by the opposition RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav.  The RJD leader has accused Kumar of sheltering the accused because of their links to the ruling JD(U) party.

The shocking case emerged last week when 40 girls filed a complaint about being assaulted on a regular basis.

Some of the girls also alleged that one of their inmates was beaten to death and buried on the premises. The police swung into action and began digging the site in Muzaffarpur but have not found a body

However medical test were being conducted on the 42 girls who lived at the Government shelter. The reports last week revealed 29 of the girls’ medical report showed sexual activity. Now the number has increased to 34 girls which has shocked the nation.

The Bihar police have arrested 10 people out of the 11 accused who worked in and around the Government funded shelter home.
