On Monday, Indian security forces succeeded in capturing one militant and killing two in an encounter at Kulgam district in Kashmir.
A police spokesman reported that the forces received a reliable tip that militants were cooped up in Khudwani area in Kulgam district. The security forces took immediate action and cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to catch the militants.
The militants started firing at the security forces who retaliated leading to a gunfight in the area.
The spokesman also reported that at present the identity of the militants and their group were being ascertained.
Yesterday, in Shopian a similar encounter happened where two Hizbul Mujahideen militants were killed and the third surrendered.
