On Thursday, Saina Nehwal took on Caroline Marin in the second round of the Japan Open tournament in Tokyo. The Indian star was not up to the mark and lost to Marin with 21-16, 21-13.

P.V. Sindhu took on Nozomi Okuhara in the second round of the same tournament and sadly lost by 21-18, 21-8.

The men’s singles event saw H.S. Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth storming through and reaching the quarterfinals. Prannoy beat Hsu Jen Hao in one hour with 21-16, 23-21. Srikant took just 29 minutes to beat Hu Yun with 21-12, 21-11.

Prannoy will enter the semifinals against Hong Kong’s Shi Yuqi. Srikanth will take on Viktor Axelsen from Denmark.

Unlike the other two Indian men, Sameer Verma was out of luck and lost his match against Shi Yuqi with 21-10, 17-21, 15-21 that lasted longer than an hour.
