The Pakistani Officials in Islamabad released another video of former Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav. The video comes days after India called Pakistan out for humiliating Jadhav’s mother and wife. The alleged spy Jadhav is imprisoned in Pakistan for espionage. The Pakistan Government agreed to allow Jadhav’s wife and mother to visit him in Islamabad.
But after the meeting the claims that emerged made Indians cringe. The mother and wife were forced to remove their mangal sutras and sindur and given a change of clothes. However, the video released by Pakistan shows Jadhav talking about the meeting and appreciating Pakistan.
In the Skype video released by the Pakistan Foreign Office Jadhav is seen saying, “They are taking care of me. They have not harmed me. They have not touched me.” This statement comes after India alleged the marks on Jadhav’s body were due to the Pakistani Army torturing him. Jadhav in the video also said, “My mother was very happy to see me. She said she was satisfied.”
The new video released shows Jadhav admitting to being a Commissioned Officer in the Indian Navy. He also says he saw an Indian diplomat yelling at his mother after the meeting. Jadhav said, “I saw fear in her (mother’s) eyes, the Indian diplomat was shouting at my mother the moment she stepped out. I saw him shouting, yelling at her. This [meeting] was a positive gesture, so that she [my mother] could be happy and I could be happy.” However, it still is unclear how Jadhav managed to see the diplomat yelling at his mother after she stepped out.
On the 25th of December Jadhav’s mother and wife met Jadhav who is sentenced to hang in Pakistan. The meeting has been scrutinized by the Indian Government ever since the images of the meeting were released.
India pointed out the Pakistani officials forced Jadhav and his family to speak in English. After the meeting, the mother and wife were heckled by the media even after the Indian Government clearly stated the media should be kept away from Jadhav’s wife and mother.
