During today’s Parliament Monsoon session, a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Jay Prakash Naravan Yadav issued an adjournment notice in the Lok Sabha. This was done over the waterlogging issue in Patna’s Nalanda Medical College Hospital (NMCH.)
The NMCH is considered as the second largest Government hospital in Patna and faced severe waterlogging issues. Due to the heavy downpour in the state’s capital, the hospital flooded. The Intensive Care Units were also filled with water and fish were sen swimming.
The Hospital is forced to undergo a huge clean up drive to recede the rain water. Measures need to be taken to avoid more waterlogging as monsoon continues.
The state of Bihar has been facing a number of issues due to the extreme weather. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of the state.
The Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi’s residence was blocked off with water but the rainwater was quickly drained.
