Sharp at 4:00 P.M., Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation for the 6th time. 

Amid the India-China clash and increasing number of Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 cases, PM Modi’s address to the nation focused on the issues of poor and precautions taken to curb the spread of the virus. 

Mr. Modi also spoke about making India’s local manufacturers a big brand, under Atma Nirbhar Yojana. 

During the 16 minutes address to the citizens of India, PM Modi announced to continue Garib Kalyan Yojana till November.

PM Modi announced to provide free food and ration to approximately 80 crores people till November, under the Garib Kalyan Yojana. 

The Central Government would release 1.5 lakh crore for the welfare scheme and would provide ration amid the Novel Coronavirus outbreak. 

Mr. Modi said, “We have decided to expand the PM Garib Ann Yojana till the end of November: PM Modi; this scheme which gives benefits to 80 crore people will continue till November.”

Every person of the family will get 5kg wheat or rice free of cost ; every family will get free 1 kg chana. 

More than ₹90,000 cr will be spent on this scheme,  which would provide free food to poor till the 30th of November 2020.

In addition, PM Modi spoke about steps taken by Government during lockdown to help the poor.  

PM Modi also spoke about the steps taken by the Central Government and state governments  to help the needy during the pandemic lockdown.

Mr. Modi assures citizens of better condition in India of the pandemic and said, “In comparison to other countries across the globe, India is still in a very stable situation, in the battle against COVID-19. Timely decisions and measures have played a great role.”

While the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the Unlock phase II on the night of the 29th of June, Mr. Modi said, “We have to give extra attention to containment zones.”

On the 29th of June, the Ministry of Home Affairs, imposed Unlock 2.0., from the 1st of July till the 31st of July.
