On the 15th of July, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the Uttar Pradesh (U.P.,) Government for their measures to curtail the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
The Prime Minister said, “The way in which UP has controlled the second COVID-19 wave and stopped its spread is unprecedented.” He said, “In tackling corona, Uttar Pradesh’s efforts are ‘ullekhniya’ (remarkable.)”
Adding to it PM Modi praised Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of U.P., and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government. He said, Today, Yogi ji himself is working hard. The people of Kashi have seen how he regularly comes here. He reviews development schemes and invests his own energy to accelerate the development works. He [Yogi] strives like this for the entire State.” Mr. Modi further said, “There is rule of law in U.P. today. Mafiaraj and terrorism, which were once out of control, now are under the grip of law. The criminals who raise an eye at women know that they cannot escape from the law.”
The statement by Mr. Narendra Modi was made at a public gathering in Varanasi, the Parliamentary constituency of PM Modi.
Later, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth Rs. 774 crores and Rs. 839 crores respectively, in Uttar Pradesh.
Some of the major projects inaugurated today include the Centre for Skill and Technical Support of Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (CIPET), 143 rural projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission and mango and vegetable integrated pack house in Karkhiyaon.
Besides PM Modi and top Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, the Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel, the U.P., Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and State ministers attended the events.
Later in the day, Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the International Cooperation and Convention Centre, Rudrakash, constructed with Japanese assistance. In addition, he would also inspect the Maternal and Child Health Wing of the Bananas Hindu University (BHU.)
At the end of the day, later in the evening, Mr. Modi would hold a meeting with the medical department officials of the State, controlling the COVID-19 situation in the State.
Meanwhile, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Uttar Pradesh currently has over 17 lakh positive cases, of which only 1,428 are active cases.
In addition, one of the most populated states of India, administered COVID-19 vaccine doses to 3.89 crore people till date.
It is to be noted, the population of Uttar Pradesh as of 2021 is approximately 24.1 crores.
