On the 1st of March 2021, the Prime Minister of India took the first dose of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 vaccination.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took his COVID-19 vaccine dose at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi.
Mr. Modi took to Twitter and said, “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19.”
After taking the doses, Mr. Modi took to Twitter and appealed to people to take the vaccination.
Mr. Modi’s tweet read, “I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”
Mr. Modi took the vaccination doses in the second phase of the Novel Coronavirus vaccination drive. Rosamma Anil and P. Niveda administered the Hyderabad based Bharat Biotech International Private Limited manufactured COVAXIN. PM’s vaccination was replete with symbols from states where elections are scheduled to be held in March and April. He wore a gamchha (scarf) from Assam and nurses were from Kerala and Puducherry.
In the first phase, which started from the 16th of January, two India made COVID-19 vaccines were given to healthcare workers and medical staff. In the first phase close to 1.45 crore people were administered the oath.
In the second phase, Mr. Modi is the first beneficiary to take the Coronavirus vaccines. The second phase started from the 1st of March and would administer COVID-19 vaccines to people above 60 years of age and 45 years old with comorbidities. Registration for the COVID-19 vaccination doses started at 9:00 A.M. in respective states and union territories (UTs.)
In the second phase Mr. Modi led the Central Government aims to administer COVID-19 vaccinations to nearly 30 crore people.
