Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana on the 12th of September, in Jharkhand.

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana is a pension scheme introduced for the benefit of farmers.  According to the scheme, farmers who own land up to two hectares and are between the age group of 18 and 40, will get a pension of Rs. 3,000 every month after they turn 60.  The Yojana will be implemented across the Nation and will give security to farmers during their old age.

Raghubar Das, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, said, “Monthly pension under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana’ is being introduced as a social security to farmers. Agriculturalists between 18 and 40 years of age can register themselves under the scheme. They will get Rs. 3,000 pension per month after reaching 60 years of age.”

Apart from the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana, Mr. Modi will also launch the Pradhan Mantri Laghu Vyaparik Mandhan Yojana and Swarojgar pension schemes, which will offer similar benefits as the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Mandhan Yojana.

During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also lay the foundation for the new Assembly buildings in the State.  Later in the day, he will visit Sahibganj and launch the Multi Modal Terminal, which is constructed by the Inland Waterways Authority of India on river Ganga and is worth Rs. 290 crores.

According to sources, the Multi Modal Terminal was constructed under the Jal Marg Vikas Project (JMVP) and plays an important role in the transportation of domestic coal from Rajmahal to different thermal power plants.  It also provides Indo-Nepal cargo connectivity via waterways.

After the launch, the terminal will give job opportunities for approximately 600 people directly, whereas more than 3,000 people will be employed indirectly.

PM Modi is also scheduled to lay the foundation for 462 Eklavya Model Schools across India through online medium.  Out of the 462 schools, 69 will be established in Jharkhand.

The launch of schemes in Jharkhand by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is said to be a part of the Party’s strategy for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Jharkhand will conduct its Assembly elections in 2019.

However, the official dates of the elections are yet to be announced.
