In an early prediction, M. Veerappa Moily, former Union minister and senior Congress leader, made claims stating, Rahul Gandhi, the Congress President, might become India’s next Prime Minister (PM,) on Wednesday.

After the Congress party won the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, it is likely the Party has a stronghold in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, 2019. Earlier yesterday, Mayawati Das, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief and Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party President, expressed their support for the Congress party. Their support brought the Congress party to the required majority seat mark in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

“People have tolerated too long the misgovernance and the misrule of (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi and his NDA government. And this (election results) is an indication that they are totally unhappy with him,” said M. Veerappa Moily.

Mr. Moily further continued by saying, “And the manner in which they (BJP) have carried on certain personal propaganda against Soniaji and Rahulji… people are not tolerating. This is the success not only of the Congress party but also of the (party) leadership.” He even praised Rahul Gandhi for his work in lifting the Party to success.

Mr. Moily said, Rahul Gandhi qualified all the tests necessary for the PM position and possesses the essential abilities to drive the nation toward prosperity.

“He (Rahul Gandhi) has passed all the tests which were posed to him to become a leader. People definitely see that he is a much better leader than (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi,” said Mr. Moily. He also referred to Mr. Rahul as a better leader than Mr. Modi.

The Congress party won 114 Assembly seats in Madhya Pradesh, 68 Assembly seats in Chhattisgarh and 100 Assembly seats in Rajasthan. Rahul Gandhi is all set to compete against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
