Tollywood superstar Rajinikanth’s team recently said, all the members of the Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM,) are free to join any other political party in Tamil Nadu.
V.M. Sudhakar, a RMM member said party members who want to join any other political outfit can do so after submitting their resignation.
The announcement came after a few leaders of the RMM joined the officially launched political party, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK.)
Mr. Rajinikanth had been in the headlines since the past two months. Initially he announced he would take up politics and launch his own political party, the RMM and contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. However, due to his health conditions, Mr. Rajinikanth decided to withdraw his decision to join politics.
He even dismisses his announcement of launching his own political party. The announcement created a ruckus in the State, disappointing his fans and followers, who even staged a protest outside his residence.
In a recent development, many district chiefs of the RMM joined the M.K. Stalin led DMK on the 17th of January.
District secretaries of Tuticorin and Ramanathapuram, A. Joseph Stalin and K. Senthil Selvanand respectively, joined the DMK.
Theni district secretary, R. Ganesan joined the DMK at its headquarters ‘Anna Arivalayam.’
Besides the district level office-bearers, three more functionaries joined the DMK
All the RMM members joined the DMK in the presence of M.K. Stalin, the President of the DMK, the DMK Deputy General Secretary A. Raja, organising secretary R.S. Bharati and other senior leaders.
