Rajnath Singh Addresses Rajya Sabha Over India-China Border Row, Says India Is Ready To Tackle Any Situation

Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister of India, on the 17th of September, addressed the Rajya Sabha over the India-China standoff issue. 

Since the 15th of June, China-India are having clashes related to border row. On the night of the 15th of June, the Chinese troops killed as many as 20 personne of Indian Army.

Mr. Singh said, China has illegally occupied 38,000 sq km of India’s territory in Ladakh, while Pakistan illegally gave away 5,180 square kilometre of PoK’s area to Beijing citing the so called ‘1963 boundary agreement.

Mr. Singh said, “Both countries have own perception of LAC,”

The Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, during the Rajya Sabha said, the issue is still unsolved and China is not accepting the traditional alignment of the border.

Rajnath Singh added, “The border issue is a complex one and needs to be resolved patiently. Both the countries believe that.” He further added, “There is no commonly delineated Line of Actual Control (LAC.)”

Mr. Rajnath said the Chinese Army is creating obstacles in the Ladakh sector for operations of Indian soldiers, stationed there as per the agreements between India-China.

Rajnath Singh said, “No one should have doubts about our determination to protect the country’s borders.”

Briefing about the ongoing situation between India-China, Rajnath Singh said various agreements and common understanding which both India and China arrived at over the years.

However, after 2003, China did not show the will to honour these agreements.

This is the third day, the Rajya Sabha is debating and discussing the India-China issue.

Recently, on the 15th and the 16th of September, the Defence Minister made several statements regarding the India-China issue in the Lok Sabha session of the Monsoon Parliament session.

Concluding the discussion, The Defence Minister said, India is ready to deal with any situation regarding the India-China border tension.

The Parliament Monsoon session started from the 14th of September and is scheduled to continue till the 1st of October.
