Amar Singh, the former Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and a sitting Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament (MP,) passed away on the 1st of August. 

Mr. Singh at the age of 64 in Singapore hospital. He was undergoing treatment for a long time.  He was admitted at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore hospital, seven months ago .

Amar Singh had been battling health issues for a long time.  In 2015, due to his health issues, he was rushed to Fortis Hospital in New Delhi.  He even suffered kidney failure in 2013 in Dubai and had undergone a kidney transplant. Once again in 2018, he underwent another surgery due to his health issues. 

In March 2020, during his treatment in Singapore, there were rumours of his demise.   However, Mr. Amar Singh rubbished rumours about his death with a video tweet saying ‘Tiger zinda hai’ and though “well wishers” want him dead, he is alive, awaiting surgery.

Amar Singh was born on the 27th of January, 1956 in Aligarh district, Uttar Pradesh. 

He studied even an alumnus of St. Xavier’s College and University College of Law, Kolkata. 

Amar Singh is survived by his wife Pankaja and twin daughters. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and many political leaders expressed condolences to the family of Mr. Amar Singh.
