Sanjay Raut, a senior leader of the Shiv Sena, on the 6th of November, was spotted outside the residence of Sharad Pawar, the President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP.)

The duo conducted a meeting at Sharad Pawar’s residence in South Mumbai.

According to sources, the discussion during the meeting is expected to be about the ongoing issue between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shiv Sena.  After winning the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the BJP and the Shiv Sena are fighting over the key posts in the Maharashtra Cabinet and the Chief Minister’s post.

Another major demand of the Shiv Sena is a 50:50 power sharing formula, which was refused by the BJP leaders.

With just 2 days left until the term of the current Maharashtra Assembly ends, the parties must form the Government in the State.

The term of the Maharashtra Assembly is due to end on the 8th of November.

Recently, Sanjay Raut met Sharad Pawar, sparking speculation about the Shiv Sena joining hands with the NCP.  However, neither of the leaders spoke about it to the media.

The meeting held on the 6th of November is said to be the second one between the Shiv Sena and the NCP after the announcement of the Maharashtra Assembly elections’ results on the 24th of October.

When asked about the reason behind the meeting, Sanjay Raut said it is a “courtesy visit like always.”

Mr. Raut also said, “Pawar expressed concern on the unstable political scenario in the State.”  He further added, “He (Pawar) is also firm that the mandate given by the people to his party is to be in the Opposition.”

If the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance fails to form the government in Maharashtra by the 7th of November, the State would come under President’s rule.

Stay tuned for further updates.
